REPORTS TO: Director of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism  

Works closely with Internal: Programme Director for Unity, Mission and Ecumenical Formation, colleagues in the programmatic area and designated staff in other projects and support areas.
External: WCC-CWME, Commission working group on Evangelism and counterparts in member churches and ecumenical organisations.

Objective To contribute to the work on mission and evangelism with a particular focus on the ecumenical understanding and practice of evangelism.

Specific responsibilities: 
1. Participate in the work of the team on Mission and Evangelism and contribute to its projects and activities, especially from the perspective of evangelism, ensuring the planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of projects and activities and the implementation of plans within the approved WCC budgets and policies.
2. Help churches and missionary bodies or movements to dialogue on each other’s understanding and practices of evangelism, with a view to enhance common witness and mission in unity.
3. Develop a network of persons and bodies responsible for and/or involved in evangelism within the WCC’s member churches, CWME affiliated bodies and a wider constituency, including Evangelical and Pentecostal churches and movements.
4. Be responsible for training in evangelism, and for organising seminars on these and related topics in different parts of the world, if needed, in cooperation with the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey.
5. Inspire academic reflection on the ecumenical understanding and practices of evangelism through regular contributions to the International Missionary Review. 
6. Participate in the coordination of the relations between the WCC and the Pentecostals, especially the preparation and follow up of the meetings of the Joint Consultative Group between Pentecostals and the WCC.
7. Work together with staff in other programmatic and transversal areas ensuring an integrated approach in the Council’s work.

Qualifications and Special Requirements: 
- Post graduate degree in theology of mission or related field. A PhD would be an added advantage.
- At least 3 years of work experience as an academic or practitioner in the field. 
- Experience in an ecumenical or similar environment.
- Good command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of the other working languages of the WCC (French, German, Spanish) is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a Microsoft environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint), and comfortable knowledge of social media such as Facebook and X.
- Experience in working sensitively in multi-cultural and ecumenical settings.
