About the Role

The World Council of Churches (WCC) is recruiting a National Coordinator to support the field implementation of its Syria project focused on promoting safety, inclusive dialogue, and social peace in areas affected by conflict. The coordinator will work closely with local stakeholders and provide vital support in monitoring, engagement, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation of project activities in designated regions of Syria, ensuring alignment with overall project goals and values.
• Maintain regular engagement with local interfaith leaders, civil society actors, and (where relevant) armed actors, fostering trust and ensuring safe and inclusive dialogue.
• Monitor local developments related to conflict dynamics, civil-military relations, and intercommunal tensions.
• Collect and synthesize relevant field-level data and reports and provide timely updates to the General Coordinator.
• Support coordination of local dialogues, early warning network activities, and community-based healing efforts in line with the project framework.
• Ensure that activities are implemented in a culturally sensitive, conflict-aware, and gender-inclusive manner.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in field coordination or community engagement roles, ideally in peacebuilding, humanitarian, or civil society projects in Syria.
• Strong familiarity with the socio-political landscape in the selected region of work and trusted relationships with local actors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build bridges across diverse communities and stakeholders.
• High sensitivity to religious and cultural dynamics, and ability to work effectively in interfaith and cross-sectoral settings.
• Strong reporting and organizational skills.
• Fluency in Arabic is required; working knowledge of English is an asset
