The World Council of Churches (WCC) is an ecumenical fellowship of churches founded in 1948, which brings together 356 Christian denominations from all over the world. It promotes Christian unity in faith, witness and service for a just and peaceful world.
Fully part of the WCC, the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (WCC-EAPPI) was founded in 2002 in response to a call from the local Heads of Churches in Jerusalem and brings internationals to the West Bank for protective presence, accompaniment and international advocacy.
The EAPPI is looking for a Project Officer at 50%, based in Jerusalem, who will be responsible, in coordination with the EAPPI Local Programme Coordinator and the Programme Executive for the Middle East. He/she will ensure that project activities are executed efficiently, documented thoroughly, and aligned with the project's logical framework and budget.
Their main responsibilities are:
Project Implementation & Monitoring:
• Support the Local Programme Coordinator in the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities across all three Specific Objectives.
• Maintain and update the project work plan, ensuring activities are delivered on schedule.
• Assist in the organisation and logistics of project events, including workshops, advocacy campaigns, lobby activity, travel arrangements for the LPC, advocacy officer, activity consultant, etc., international delegations, etc.
• Support the M&E framework by tracking progress against logframe indicators and ensuring data is collected systematically.
Administration & Financial Support:
• Maintain comprehensive and organised project files, ensuring all documentation meets EU compliance standards.
• Work closely with the Finance Officer to track project expenditures against the approved budget, ensuring all costs are eligible and properly documented.
• Assist in the procurement process for project equipment and services, ensuring adherence to EU procurement guidelines.
Reporting & Communication:
• Draft inputs from the Hub and database for interim and final narrative reports for the donor(s) and internal stakeholders.
• Assist the Advocacy Officer in gathering information and success stories from the field for communication materials.
• Prepare minutes and action points for internal project team meetings and partner coordination meetings.QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in project management, administration, or coordination, preferably within an NGO or international organisation.
• Demonstrated experience working on EU-funded projects and familiarity with EU compliance and reporting requirements are highly desirable.
• Strong financial literacy and experience in budget tracking.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
• Strong computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
