OBJECTIVES: The Archivist is part of the Communication department and contributes to the management and development of the WCC Archives, including WCC document and records management, as well as curating and providing access to historical collections and theological resources for research and formation

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      To develop a comprehensive, systematic, and controlled document management system, to implement related policies and to provide appropriate training and guidance to staff.

2.      To develop solutions for digital archives and establish procedures for the digitisation of paper and/or audiovisual archives.

3.      To ensure preservation and access for both physical and digital files, according to international standards.

4.      To provide information and guidance to researchers, both internal and external.

5.      To collaborate with the WCC librarian and Programmes to ensure an integrated access to WCC published and unpublished resources

6.      To collaborate on archives matters with sister organisations and to provide assistance if requested.

7.      To maintain relations with archives professionals and professional organisations at the local, national and international levels.

8.      To supervise the work of temporary staff assigned to WCC archives (intern, apprentice, volunteers, students, …)

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

·         HEG bachelor diploma “spécialiste en information documentaire” (or equivalent diploma)

·         3-5 years’ experience in a similar position, specific experience with archives’ move is a strong asset

·     Knowledge of international standards and best practices in archiving, specific expertise in digital archiving a strong asset

·     Take initiative and work both autonomously and collaboratively in a flexible and collegial way, with respect to confessional, cultural and gender diversity.

·   Excellent command of English and French, of other WCC languages (Spanish, German) an asset(French, German, or Spanish)  an assetIn-depth knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
